Fortnite made $ 9 billion in its first two years |
New financial documents show that Fortnite generated more than $ 5 billion in revenue on all platforms in the first year of Epic Games. After a rapid rise in popularity in 2018, Fortnite now has 400 million registered players.
The document is part of a lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple over the app store practices. The document shows that total Epic Games revenue exceeded $ 9 billion in 2018 and 2019.
The game generated sales of $ 5.5 billion in 2018 and sales of $ 3.7 billion in 2019. Epic Games' sales were more than $ 5.6 billion in 2018 and sales of $ 4.2 billion in 2019.
The document doesn't say exactly how much Epic Games has been made out of Fortnite, but the company has announced earnings of over $ 5.5 billion over two years.
These documents were submitted in January 2020 and there is no prior data on what Fortnite can achieve in 2020.
In the document, the company expects $ 3.6 billion in sales in 2020 due to market saturation and distance between attendees, as well as a reduced number of attendees looking to purchase cosmetic promotions.
Although the numbers aren't real, Sensor Tower, a mobile analytics company, expects Fortnite to generate $ 1.2 billion in revenue from iOS alone, and then remove that from the app store.
Epic Games does not usually provide public financial reports, but recent data from CEO Tim Sweeney shows that the company's revenue will exceed $ 5.1 billion in 2020, which is equivalent to $ 3.6 billion, as stated in the intended company's financial report. Compared to 2020
Fortnite sales far surpassed any other Epic Games company running at the time, with other games (such as Rocket League, which was acquired by Epic Games in 2019), making $ 108 million in 2018 and 2019. $
Epic Games Engine sales exceeded $ 221 million over the same period, and the Epic Games Store opened in late 2018 with total sales of $ 235 million between 2018 and 2019.
Including the cost, Epic Games lost about $ 181 million in stores in 2019 alone. It is expected to lose $ 273 million by 2020 and $ 139 million by 2021.
