Windows 10 taskbar brings weather and news |
Microsoft started using new taskbar tools related to weather and news in Windows 10 to announce major changes to the Windows taskbar over the years.
The tool delivers weather information directly to the Windows taskbar. The tool has also been expanded to include sources for news, promotions, sports and weather information.
The mini content feed will not appear until the tool is activated and can be fully customized with the latest sports news, headlines, and weather information.
Click on the story to open it in the browser. If necessary, you can save the article for later reading and sharing.
You can customize the topics displayed in the feed and choose which posts Windows will use for the source article.
Microsoft uses its Microsoft News Network to display news and content from more than 4,500 sources.
If you dismiss or like news in your news feed, the company uses artificial intelligence to find the news that interests you.
If you don't care about this new tool, you can just turn it off and see weather info on the system tray.
The new tool is available for users who want to preview the April 2021 cumulative update for Windows 20.
With the release of Windows security updates in May, availability will be more widespread in the coming weeks.
Microsoft said that by adding messages and interests to the system tray, it is pursuing a number of goals including making it easier to find relevant, high-quality, and timely content.
Microsoft has been testing the tool since January, and the tool was released ahead of the planned 21H1 and 21H2 updates this year.
Microsoft is currently in the final stages of testing the 21H1 update, and is expected to be released next month. However, this new system tray tool is available for Windows 10 users running version 1909 or later.
