Trial version xCloud arrives on iPhone |
Microsoft's xCloud gaming service, Xbox, will officially arrive on iOS and PC tomorrow, April 20.
The service works through the device's browser, so Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can play Xbox games on iPhone, iPad, and computers.
Although Microsoft has put some restrictions on the trial version, players should be invited to participate in the beta version.
The service can be accessed through the Xbox website. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers invited to take a beta can play Xbox games through Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Apple Safari.
Over 100 games are provided and testers can use Bluetooth or USB controllers or custom touch controls.
The Limited Beta is for testing and learning, said Kathryn Glouxstein, XCloud Service Manager. We've sent out more invitations to players in 22 supported countries / territories, evaluated their opinions, kept improving the experience, and added the following content. Support more devices.
She added: Our plan is to work quickly over the next few months and make it available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members so that more people have the opportunity to play Xbox games in completely new ways.
It should be noted that this is the first time that Xbox Cloud game services have been introduced across iOS devices since the service was launched on Android phones and tablets last year.
Due to Apple's restrictions on cloud gaming apps, Microsoft was unable to roll out xCloud to iPad and iPhone when it was first released in September.
Both Apple and Microsoft are involved in a general war of words over xCloud, and Apple initially insisted that Microsoft make the game available for review separately.
Ultimately, Apple introduced the franchise to run cloud gaming apps on iOS devices with individually rated games, but Microsoft said it was a bad experience for consumers.
