Samsung announced that customers will soon be able to discover unfamiliar Galaxy SmartTag trackers using the SmartThings Find service, which evolves with advanced privacy features and voice command updates.

According to Samsung, SmartThings Find will include more than 70 million additional devices in October 2020, making it one of the fastest growing services in this category.

An additional 70 million devices, representing 10% of the 700 million eligible Galaxy users.

The "Find Unknown Tags" function will be used in the SmartThings app starting next week.

Users can scan Samsung trackers that are not nearby but move with the device or in a public environment.

This feature is a great security feature as it ensures that no one follows you with the Samsung tracker that fits in your backpack or jacket pocket.

This step is for those who care about the privacy or security risks of Tile-like trackers.

Samsung has also announced that its voice assistant, Bixby, is increasingly able to find Samsung trackers.

If you have associated a Samsung tracker with a specific project and named it, you can find it with Bixby.

Apple currently has a feature similar to "Find Unknown Tags" in the beta version of iOS 14.5 and appears to be compatible with the long-running AirTag.

Additionally, with Galaxy SmartTag, you can use BLE and UWB to identify lost devices. So you have to be close to them to be able to track them in real time.

However, trackers not in your area can still be detected by other Samsung devices in range. These devices can anonymously test SmartThings' network connectivity and notify you.

SmartThings Find is an important feature of the SmartThings ecosystem that allows Galaxy users to quickly and easily find Galaxy smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and headphones.
