Mustang Mach-E has a battery issue that prevents it from running |
Charging is a common problem with electric cars, but some owners of the new Mustang Mach-E SUV have encountered some strange issues and even when the main battery is full you won't be driving.
The reason has to do with some early Mustang Mach e-cars, and the question is how the battery can be charged up to 12 volts.
This release is the latest in a series of minor issues encountered with Ford's introduction of its first long-range electric vehicle.
Similar to other electric vehicles, the Mustang Mach-E mainly draws its power from a larger lithium-ion battery to charge its 12v lead acid battery.
The problem from a car owner's point of view is that when the Mustang Mach-E is used to charge a larger battery, this is not the case.
This problem only occurs with car owners in cold regions as Ford encourages them to connect a Mustang Mach-E to a power source so that the car can be used for heating before driving with AC power.
Since the larger battery has a higher voltage, the 12 volt battery powers many Mustang Mach-E systems.
This means that if there is a problem with the 12 volt battery, the electric vehicle will not turn on and the vehicle owner will inform the FordPass app indicating that the vehicle is in sleep mode.
Ford recently submitted a Technical Service Notice to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirming that the issue is with the powertrain control unit software.
Ford writes that this will only affect Mustang Mach-E cars manufactured on or before February 3, meaning that about 7,000 vehicles delivered in the first three months of this year could be affected.
These owners currently cannot make repairs with remote updates. "The owners must bring the car to the dealer," the company said in a statement.
We know very few Mustang Mach-E owners experience this issue and we have actively worked with early owners who encountered this issue to find the root cause and fix it. In rare cases, this situation can still happen. Customer Production The additive company can contact the local authorized Ford dealer. To fix this problem.
