Microsoft closes the Cortana app for Android and iOS |
Microsoft closed the Cortana app for Android and iOS.
The shutdown is the latest in a series of actions to end Cortana's support for multiple devices, including the Microsoft Surface Headset.
The Cortana app for Android and iOS is no longer supported and is being removed by Microsoft from the App Store and Google Play Store.
According to the company's technical support: As we announced in July, we will end support for the Cortana app on Android and iOS soon once Cortana develops as a production assistant.
Additional note: Effective March 31, 2021, Cortana content you create (such as reminders and lists) will no longer work in the Cortana mobile app, but will still be available through Cortana in Windows.
Cortana reminders, lists, and tasks are now available in the Microsoft To Do app.
Microsoft first released Cortana in December 2015 for the Android and iOS operating systems.
The app was originally designed to link Windows 10 PCs and mobile phones, but despite an overhaul, it failed to capture users' attention.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella (Satya Nadella) saw the difficulties the company faced two years ago in competing with other digital assistants, noting that the software giant Cortana is nothing more than a competitor to Amazon Alexa and Siri or Google Assistant.
Microsoft once imagined there would be many refrigerators, toasters, and thermostats with Cortana drives in the future.
That dream ended when Cortana's first and only speaker canceled Microsoft's digital assistant.
Microsoft's digital assistant no longer supports other devices, such as: b. GLASS thermostat with Cortana power supply.
Cortana isn't completely done yet. However, Microsoft still believes AI is good for conversations, and the company is trying to reposition Cortana as a capable assistant to boost Microsoft's business-focused products.
