Galaxy Quantum 2 has built-in quantum encryption |
Samsung and SK Telecom in South Korea announced the launch of Galaxy Quantum 2, the second mobile phone from Samsung to include quantum encryption technology for improved security.
This phone is the successor to last year's Galaxy A Quantum phone. Galaxy Quantum 2 contains a chip developed by Quantum ID. The chip says it is the smallest QRNG quantum random number generator with an area of 2.5 square millimeters.
The chip generates random numbers by generating noise through LEDs and detects noise through CMOS sensors.
According to SK Telecom, the QRNG chip enables smartphone owners to use services that require security more securely by generating truly unexpected and atypical random numbers.
Without full physical access to specific hardware, RNG quantum encryption would be extremely difficult.
For regular customers, the benefits seem very beneficial, but the QRNG chip can be used automatically with apps that use the Android Keystore API, making the technology easier for developers.
In addition to its own services (such as T World), SK Telecom has also enhanced compliance with Shinhan Bank and Standard Chartered Bank of Korea.
The telecom company said: This phone will provide other services in the future, including credit cards from Samsung.
The phone itself has almost identical specifications to what I saw on high-end flagship phones a year or two ago, as it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, a 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity O display, and a 7-inch and 7-inch screen. The Super AMOLED Infinity O display has a full HD + resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an under-display fingerprint reader.
The phone can be used with Android 11 and comes with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot.
The phone has a triple camera on the back with a 64MP primary lens with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 5MP depth sensor.
The company placed an initial order for the Galaxy Quantum 2 from April 13-19, 2021, and officially launched the device in South Korea on April 23, 2021.
