Twitter is testing YouTube clips directly from Tweets |
Shortly after Twitter announced that it was testing a better way to display images through its app, it is now doing the same thing when watching YouTube clips.
According to a new tweet on the Twitter support account, the platform says: It is testing a way to watch YouTube videos from the timeline directly in the iOS Twitter app.
This means you can click and play the video without leaving the conversation you are watching.
Before this change, YouTube videos were not previewed on iOS. So you had to click on the link to get started.
This way, you can switch the conversation to another screen where you can play the video or, if you like, tap again to open the YouTube iOS app.
You can now scroll and watch videos without losing your site on Twitter timeline.
Twitter said it used the iFrame YouTube Player API to conduct this test, which was originally released on iOS platforms in the US, Japan, Canada and Saudi Arabia and then expanded globally.
The platform does not provide a schedule that all Twitter users can use.
The company announced earlier this month that it is working to improve the media experience through its apps, including sharing and viewing media such as photos and videos.
With the launch of photo preview tests on iOS and Android last week, Twitter gave users a more accurate preview of what the image would look like before it was automatically cropped, and often the main part of the image disappears.
Twitter recently announced the ability for users to upload 4K photos via Android and iOS. It can be accessed via a new function in the Twitter app's data usage settings.
Additionally, the social network is developing a competitive feature for its club app called Clubs which allows you to chat with other people in real time. Earlier this month, Android users were able to try this new feature.
