The Xbox TV era will end in May with its removal from the OneGuide TV list |
Microsoft plans to remove the OneGuide TV feature from Xbox One in May.
Live TV isn't as important as it used to be. This feature adds Windows Media Center and WebTV to Microsoft's graveyard.
The OneGuide TV menu on Xbox One overlaps the cable box and provides a better way to access the content.
The OneGuide TV listing on Xbox One was originally part of Microsoft's ambition to start the show.
You can also use this feature in conjunction with Xbox USB TV Tuner to access free TV channels.
“Based on usage and customer feedback, we have worked hard to improve the Xbox experience,” said Jonathan Hildebrandt, Project Manager at the Microsoft Xbox Experience Group.
To that end, he added that we will be closing the OneGuide Live TV list on Xbox One starting in May.
OneGuide users can still access HDMI Pass via Xbox One to view connected devices, or they can still access Xbox USB TV Tuner, but the TV menu has been removed.
This ad represents the coffin of Microsoft's original dream of transforming the Xbox One into a modern digital entertainment center or cable box.
Crossing over Kinect and HDMI is at the heart of the plan, but the $ 100 price gap between Xbox One and PS4, poor performance of VCR-like hardware, and focus on entertainment casts a shadow over what is essentially a gaming console.
In recent years, with the removal of Kinect, the sudden demise of Xbox One, the demise of multimedia capabilities, and the rise of Xbox TV DVR capabilities, Microsoft has gradually cut back on Xbox TV.
Xbox One seemed to viewers a dream, but after a few years of owning a gaming console, that dream quickly faded.
The Microsoft Xbox Series X or newer Xbox Series S does not include HDMI Pass Through or the company's OneGuide app.
