Samsung SSD 980 NVMe sets a new standard for performance |
Samsung released the latest 980 NVMe SSD to replace the 970 Evo, the first DRAM-free M.2 PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive.
The new 980 NVMe SSD delivers the highest performance among dynamic memory-free SSDs, allowing for NVMe speed to reach unparalleled user range.
“Through hardware and software innovations, the new 980 NVMe SSD can deliver more value without sacrificing advanced NVMe performance,” said Kyu Young Lee, vice president of storage products sales for Samsung.
He added that the 980 is a perfect combination of speed, energy efficiency and reliability, making it ideal for everyday PC users, gamers, and content creators.
DRAM-free designs have speed errors and no short-term memory for fast data access.
The Samsung SSD 980 NVMe uses HMB technology, which links the drive directly to the processor's DRAM to overcome performance weaknesses.
Together with the latest generation V-NAND plus controllers and updated firmware from the company, this technology enables the 980 to deliver NVMe performance six times faster than a SATA SSD.
The serial read and write speeds are 3500MB and 3000MB / s respectively, while the random read and write performance is 500,000 IOPS and 480,000 IOPS respectively.
The recently updated Smart TurboWrite 2.0 feature significantly improves past sustainable performance by allocating more storage space on the hard drive (versus 42GB in the 970 Evo in the past).
For users who process large files or play heavy graphics games, the new "Full Power Mode" of Samsung Magician 6.3 enables the tablet to always run at peak performance and operate and play normally.
In addition, the advanced heat dissipation design means consumers never have to worry about overheating.
Thanks to Samsung's advanced 980 series thermodynamic protection technology, nickel-coated controllers and label solutions for heating machines, users can enjoy stable and reliable performance even after prolonged use.
Compared to the previous 970 EVO, the new tablet has increased energy efficiency by 56%, giving laptop users better control over energy consumption.
The 980 NVMe SSD is $ 50 for 250GB, $ 70 for 500GB, and $ 130 for 1 TB.
