Personalized Tik Tok ads are mandatory |
TikTok is about to take action to make personalized ads mandatory. This means that depending on the type of content you interact with, you can get in-app ads, whether you like it or not.
The app currently has a setting that allows users to choose to show them ads based on their activity in the app.
You will see a notification to open the app: Starting April 15th, your settings will change and the ads you see may depend on how you manage TikTok.
TikTok said: It is committed to respecting users' privacy, remaining transparent in its privacy practices, and helping users understand their privacy options in its Security Center.
Users can still control whether TikTok personalizes ads based on data taken from other apps and sites.
Changes made to TikTok's privacy settings will reflect how ads work on various social media sites, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Users can choose not to track personalized ads across various websites. However, you cannot make custom settings based on the activities of the website itself.
This change may be related to Apple's new iOS 14 system, which requires developers to obtain user permission to track their data in apps for specific ads.
Any app that does not require permission to pause or remove from the App Store is at risk.
With mandatory personalized ads, TikTok can target ads to a certain extent as more and more people are not following the apps.
This kind of tracking across apps (usually through code that companies like Facebook and Google develop into seemingly standalone apps) is the primary source of mobile app revenue and the primary source of data for their users.
TikTok has steadily increased its advertising activity, and after President Trump, who tried to shut down the app, lost the election, advertiser interest and spending increased at the platform level.
Advertisers spend more on targeted ads. Therefore, if users can opt out of targeted ads, then Tik Tok revenue will be much less.
