OnePlus 9 uses ColorOS in China |
OnePlus announced that it will switch to the Android ColorOS user interface for the upcoming OnePlus 9 series in China and for Oppo smartphones.
OxygenOS Product Manager Gary C announced the move to the OnePlus Forum, which explains how OnePlus phones are used in other parts of the world.
(Gary C.) said: After listening to the notes, our devices in the Chinese market are now using a customized version of ColorOS specially designed for OnePlus smartphones, starting with the upcoming OnePlus 9 series.
He added: As a global technology company, we are always looking for ways to deal with different usage habits and preferences of users around the world, and we believe that this new custom operating system will do better for our Chinese users. Experience to better meet their needs. Wish.
In addition, these instructions will not make any changes to the OnePlus 9 global lineup, which is scheduled for full release tomorrow, as it continues to use the OxygenOS user interface.
(Gary C.) said: For all of our users outside of China, we will continue to use OxygenOS on global devices and will continue to work to provide a fast and smooth OxygenOS experience.
However, this announcement clearly paved the way for the end of HydrogenOS. HydrogenOS is the Chinese version of Android that is used by all phones previously sold by OnePlus in China.
The number of ColorOS users in China far exceeds the number of HydrogenOS. Recently, Oppo became the largest smartphone brand in the country for the first time.
HydrogenOS and OxygenOS offer a simpler experience: Oppo and OnePlus are owned by the Chinese giant BBK Electronics and often share supply chains and biotechnology.
Another BBK Electronics brand, Realme, initially used ColorOS before developing its own software called Realme UI.
The company tends to downplay its relationship publicly, but OnePlus' decision to directly use Oppo software is one of the most visible examples of collaboration to date.
