Mustang Mach-E is comparable to Tesla in terms of sales |
Tesla is losing market share to US electric vehicle buyers, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E appears to be the beneficiary.
Analysis by investment bank Morgan Stanley shows that Tesla's share of the US electric vehicle market fell from 81% the previous year to 69% in February.
According to the analysis, Tesla sales in the United States continue to grow due to increased demand from American auto buyers for electric cars.
Morgan Stanley estimates that while sales of conventional internal combustion vehicles fell 5.4%, sales of industrial electric vehicles in the US increased 34% year on year in February.
Tesla only publishes quarterly global sales reports, not monthly sales or US sales like many other automakers.

Sales of compact electric cars in the US, along with new electrical products from traditional automakers, more than doubled, to 9,527 units.
According to Ford data, the Ford Mustang MAC-E was chosen as the best SUV of the year. Shipments began at the end of January with 3,739 sales in February.
According to Ford, a fifth of the Mustang Mach-Es sold in February was in California, the main market for the industry. In 2019, the country accounts for nearly half of Tesla Model 3 sales.
Morgan Stanley's report suggested that Ford might challenge Tesla because Ford has more history and brand awareness.
