AMD announces that the Ryzen Pro 5000 can compete with Intel |
AMD announced the new Ryzen Pro 5000 series mobile processors, which are competitors to the Intel vPro platform.
The company claims that these Zen 3-based chipsets, like most of the Ryzen 5000 consumer series, deliver unparalleled performance and battery life for thin and light laptops.
The Ryzen Pro 5000 series processors have been used in a number of laptops throughout the year, including EliteBooks, ProBooks, ThinkPads, and ThinkBooks.
These chips look very similar to similar Ryzen 5000 products.
The series includes an eight-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U processor, 20MB cache and a base frequency of 1.9GHz, which can increase up to 4.4GHz.
AMD's Ryzen series products currently only include thin and light laptop processors with eight high-performance cores, while Intel's Tiger Lake series vPro is currently quad-core products.
The product line also includes a six-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U processor and a 4-core, 8-thread Ryzen 3 Pro 5450U processor.
These three chipsets meet the specifications of Ryzen 7 5800U, Ryzen 5 5600U, and Ryzen 3 5400U respectively.
The new chip contains a new shadow package mechanism that should protect it from malware attacks.
AMD said: These chips also include deep integration with Microsoft and hardware manufacturers to improve security, and the computer has passed FIPS encryption certification.
The chipset also includes AMD's Pro Manageability platform, which competes with AMD's Intel Active Management technology and has broad spectrum management capabilities.
Like the Ryzen Pro 4000 series, the Ryzen Pro 5000 series supports Microsoft's Endpoint Manager, a platform used by IT professionals to manage the company's computers, servers, and other devices.
The company said: The Ryzen Pro 5000 series mobile processors meet the needs of modern workplaces, combining productivity, collaboration and corporate security functions and can be used in any Lenovo notebook. Later that year.
