5 ways to save your phone after dropping it in water |
Most smartphones have water and dust resistant functions as standard. Among other things, the water and dust resistance performance of smartphones is measured using the standard (Ingress Protection)(or simply referred to as (IP)). High, for example: IP67 or IP68, which means your phone has a high level of water and dust resistance.
However, if the smartphone's rating is lower than the previous two ratings or no rating at all, then you need to prepare for the worst-case scenario in case it has been exposed in any way to water or dust. Then do not try to memorize. If the phone was dropped in water using traditional methods such as strong vibration to get water droplets attached to it, this is the method to follow.
First of all, restore the phone ASAP:
Once the phone is dropped in the water, pull it out as soon as possible. The longer it stays in the water, the greater the risk of spoilage. Then turn it off immediately. Do not try to press any other buttons or download applications. Close this.
Second, quickly remove the battery from the mobile phone:
If the phone battery is removable, remove the battery quickly to disconnect power from the device as soon as possible to avoid a short circuit. We found that some smartphones like Nokia 1.3 allow you to remove the battery, and most modern smartphones have a non-removable battery that is basically water and dust resistant.
Third, do not use a hand dryer to dry wet knobs or put them in the oven:
The heat can damage the internal micro-electronic components or quickly wipe the phone with a dry cotton cloth to ensure water does not get into the charging port, SIM card slot, microSD jack, or headphone jack.
If you notice persistent water droplets in the air vents, try to dry them with a compressed air tank. Be careful, however, supply these outlets with a small amount of air and do just that.
Fourth, allow the phone to dry completely before using it again:
Do not attempt to use the phone immediately after wiping moisture from the phone, or after discovering the disappearance of water droplets. Alternatively, let it dry completely as you can wrap the phone in a dry cloth and place it in a bag of rice noodles. Then turn it off for 12-24 hours as the rice helps absorb the moisture.
5- Ask for expert help:
If you find that the phone is still wet or not working properly after following the above steps, it is best to contact the service center as some retail stores have services dedicated to repairing a smartphone using specially designed tools to absorb water from it when it falls into water.
