Hyundai launches new Kona electric models |
Hyundai Motors launched the Kona electric car in 2022. Its design is simpler and smoother, with a new aerodynamic roof and the latest in cabin technology for 258 miles.
The previous model had a front grille to hide the charging port, while the front end of the new model was clean and different from the aforementioned ports.
Hyundai removed the paint on the rear wheels and gave the Kona a simpler, smoother styling.
It also adds new alloy wheels to improve airflow, as well as redesigned LED headlights and taillights.
The interior has undergone an even more dramatic change: the old center touch screen and 7-inch dashboard have been replaced by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen that provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It also has a cleaner layer around the dashboard and wireless charging in the middle storage box.
Buyers can choose the modern BlueLink system, with which they can control the car with a smartphone and receive basic information about the range, charging time and location of the charging station.
The Kona also has a new soundproof windshield and increased insulation around the dashboard and in the luggage compartment, making the cabin even quieter and quieter.
The Kona is still equipped with a 201-hp electric motor with 291 lb-ft of torque, a 64-kW battery that offers the same 258-mile range as before and a similar charging time.
With a Level 3 charger, Hyundai can save 10% to 80% of charging time in 47 minutes, while a Level 2 charger takes 9 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge.
The power should be similar, the acceleration time is about 6.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h.
The car will arrive in South Korea first but is expected to arrive in the US in the spring.
The initial pre-discount price was under $ 40,000, making it slightly more expensive than the previous year's model.
