| Samsung 870 Evo SSD offers higher speed and lower price |
Samsung has announced the launch of the 870 Evo SSD, the latest SATA solution in the company's best-selling consumer SSD kit.
The new drive combines world-class performance and reliability, making it an ideal storage solution for a wide range of consumers, from casual computer users to IT professionals.
“The new drive represents the pinnacle of our SATA SSD series and provides laptop, desktop and NAS users the perfect blend of performance. Reliability and compatibility,” said KyuYoung Lee, General Manager of Samsung Electronics.
The 870 Evo SSD features the company's latest V-NAND controller, which can achieve maximum continuous read and write speeds of 560MB and 530MB / s via SATA.
TurboWrite technology in Smart Drive uses a large SLC variable buffer to maintain peak performance.
Compared to the previous model of the 870 Evo SSD, the new drive also offers a random read speed of approximately 38% and provides a better user experience when multitasking, surfing the Internet or starting the computer.
Leveraging on its expertise in storage technology, Samsung has designed all SSD components in-house to ensure that every part can work together.
Compared to the previous 870 Evo SSD, the 870 Evo SSD improves long-term performance by nearly 30%, has a leading TB class, and offers a 5-year limited warranty on the 4 TB model.
In addition to outstanding performance and reliability, the new drive has a 2.5 ”SATA interface that is highly compatible with a variety of computer peripherals.
In addition, the 870 Evo SSD is compatible with energy-efficient sleep mode with devices that support the modern Windows sleep function and provide computer users with more convenience.
The new 870 EVO is also designed with the environment in mind to reduce the carbon footprint of the entire production process. This amendment broadens consumer choice for environmentally friendly products.
The new drives will be available in January 2021 in capacities of 250 GB ($ 50), 500 GB ($ 80), 1 TB ($ 140), 2 TB ($ 270), and 4 TB ($ 530).
