Microsoft is mocking the Touch Bar in new ads |
Microsoft used to use surface displays to restart Mac / PC conflicts, but this time it caught up with Apple's Touch Bar.
During a Sunday night NFL Championship match, Microsoft compared Apple's MacBook Pro to the Surface Pro 7 in a 30-second TV commercial.
Microsoft mocked Apple's Touch Bar in the ad because the youngster mentioned that the Surface Pro 7 has a stylus and touchscreen and that the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro fills him.
In an advertisement comparing the MacBook Pro and Surface Pro 7, the young man asked, Mac computers gave me this tool, but why not give me a full touch screen?
Some long-time MacBook Pro users have requested it, or have requested the complete removal of the Touch Bar.
Apple is said to be planning to redesign the MacBook Pro later this year amid rumors that the Touch Bar will be replaced by physical function keys.
Surface also has a detachable keyboard, and Microsoft is trying to place the Surface Pro 7 elsewhere as a gaming device.
The ad says: It's a better gaming console that can run any apps you want. It's an unusual way to structure Microsoft's popular Surface device.
The graphics integrated into Surface Pro 7 and Intel can't run the latest PC games at acceptable frame rates, so this feature isn't the hardware's major selling point.
Microsoft said the MacBook Pro was $ 1,299, while the Surface Pro 7 was $ 890.
Microsoft previously compared its Surface Pro devices to the MacBook Air, and in 2016 it tried to use advertising to encourage MacBook buyers to buy Surface Pro 4.
The latest announcement also highlights the older Surface Pro 7, at least in businesses and schools, which has been replaced by the Surface Pro 7 Plus.
The new model has a bigger battery, an 11th generation Intel processor, removable SSD and LTE.
