Lavie Mini: the laptop as a gaming console |
This year, Lenovo introduced the Lavie Mini, a Lavie brand device that looks like an 8-inch laptop, at CES 2021.
The computer comes with the new Lenovo IdeaPad 5 series, the new Yoga 7 AIO, a new screen, and the new Lenovo Tab P11 release as part of the company's announcement at CES.
Lavie Mini is technically a pocket PC, but it packs a lot of concepts into a convertible 2-in-1 PC.
The device has an 8-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and can be configured with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics.
Built-in 256GB SSD and 16GB LPDDR4 memory, equipped with touch optical sensor instead of touchpad.
With a total weight of 579 grams, Lavie Mini is easy to carry and has a small keyboard with illuminated round keys.
This compact device also comes with an infrared camera with Windows Hello (for seamless connectivity), a 26W battery and standard WLAN 6.
The device comes with an optional gaming console that turns your mini laptop into a portable gaming rig similar to the Nintendo Switch.
According to Lenovo, the device can handle high-end PC games like battle royale and racing games.
The joystick comes with all the necessary buttons and switches that you would need to operate with the vibration, left and right trigger buttons, and the simulated joystick.
Just like with the Nintendo Switch, you can use the optional HDMI docking station to play games on the big screen.
Lavie Mini is currently a prototype and Lenovo has not released any releases or pricing plans.
A second Lavie Pro Mobile device was also shown, which is a more traditional laptop.
This device is an upgrade from last year's device. The device is equipped with an 8th generation Intel Core processor. This year, Lenovo made some upgrades, including longer battery life and improved key movement, for a better typing experience.
The laptop is also equipped with a hinge that can tilt the keyboard according to personal needs. The device can be configured with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics and a 13 ”screen. 3 inches, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The company claims up to 10 hours of battery life and laptop prices start at $ 1,699.99.
Lenovo reportedly acquired NEC's IT business in 2016, and has since sold some products under the LAVIE brand.
