Galaxy S21 phones do not support smooth Android updates |
Samsung has started releasing Android 11 updates for smartphones and tablets, but its latest flagship smartphones - Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra - do not support smooth Android updates.
The Android Seamless Update function has been available for Android smartphones since 2016, but Samsung has not implemented it yet.
With Android's smooth update function, new firmware updates can be installed in the background while the device is actively using the device.
The next time the phone or tablet is restarted, the new firmware will be launched, so users can continue working without having to wait for the progress bar.
This functionality is achieved by using a virtual A / B partition (which takes up a lot of space) to install updates in the background while using the phone.
As some leaked documents show, it is widely believed that Google needs to use Android 11 to support this update method. However, Google appears to have given up on this decision.
According to the latest release from January 2021, this feature is not required. Google has informed the manufacturers that this function should be supported. Under pressure from smartphone manufacturers (such as Samsung), it appears that Google has abandoned this function.
This means that the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra phones still don't support the five-year-old Seamless Update feature for Android.
The user found that the device does not have an A / B update indicator in the system image. With both the Treble Info and Treble Check apps in mind, the situation is the same and marked as opaque for the transparent update function.
Additionally, these results should be treated with caution as the app also stated that it does not support Project Treble, which, according to Google's requirements, has been incorrect for many popular Android devices for many years.
These apps might just report errors on these devices or problems with the current Samsung software architecture.
