The Leica SL2-S replaces precision with speed and sensitivity |
German company Leica added the new Leica SL2-S, to expand its line of interchangeable full-lens cameras and unparalleled cameras.
As the name suggests, the Leica SL2-S has many features and similarities to the Leica SL2, which the company launched last year.
The Leica SL2-S has the same Leica SL2 housing plus design, handling quality, LCD touch screen, viewfinder, battery, image stabilization and auto focus system.
In addition, it also differs in terms of sensors, as it has a new 24MP sensor with backlit instead of the Leica SL2's high-resolution 47.3MP sensor.
This lower resolution allows images to be captured at 25 fps with the electronic shutter compared to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter.
Compared to the Leica SL2, the backlight provides a wider ISO range and better low-light performance. The new sensor is the first backlight sensor Leica uses.
The new camera can take photos up to ISO 100,000, and the company claims there is less noise and better colors at an extremely high ISO.
If you need a higher resolution, the multi-shot camera mode can also merge up to 8 photos into a single 96MP photo.
With a 4GB internal buffer memory, the camera can record continuous bursts of JPEG images at 9 frames per second until the SD card fills the UHS-II slot.
The Leica SL2-S features separate photo and video modes. You can customize camera functions and settings for each task and switch between them.
In addition to the internal differences, the new camera is a version of the previous one, with the upper and lower parts made of aluminum attached to a frame of magnesium alloy.
The company provides an IP54 standard for the camera body to keep out dust and water and can operate in temperatures as low as 10 ° C.
Leica announced that it will release a firmware update in the first half of 2021 that will provide many new features, including an improved autofocus algorithm, focus tracking, split video, autofocus tracking, counting mode, color bars, and real-time playback. . Optimized for capturing photos in poor lighting conditions.
The Leica SL2-S is $ 4,895, which is about $ 1,100 less than the Leica SL2.
