Samsung launched GameDriver app to improve game performance |
Samsung has released the GameDriver app, which aims to make gaming an important part of its hardware. Video games are very popular on smartphones.
Basically, the GameDriver app allows Samsung to provide more frequent GPU updates for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note20 phones.
Samsung said, "Optimizing GPU drivers and simplifying driver updates are two of the main areas to take full advantage of hardware features and maintain peak GPU performance."
The company said: It has worked with Google and major GPU vendors including ARM and Qualcomm to develop new GameDriver applications. The company added that it works with more than 50 partners, including ChuckleFish, Crytek and Unity.
At launch, the new beta will support games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Black Desert, and Fortnite. You can find the latest game in the Samsung app store. It is expected that more games will be supported in the coming months.
Since announcing the Galaxy GameDev program in 2016, Samsung has consistently stated that its Galaxy smartphone line has become the largest gaming platform in the world. With the new GameDriver app, the company clearly wants to prioritize gaming.
Samsung isn't the only company that provides GPU software updates regardless of major software releases. Earlier this year, Xiaomi and Oppo released apps that companies can use to easily provide GPU driver updates.
The company's GameDriver app is currently only available for the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Note 20 and will soon support additional devices.
With the growing popularity of mobile games, more companies could follow Samsung's lead.
Samsung supported mobile users can download GameDriver app from Google Play Store.
