| Razer officially launches its first Tomahawk modular computer |
Razer has been discussing the introduction of a modular PC with interchangeable components for many years. After publishing several products and concept announcements, the company announced the sale of its first pre-built desktop computer.
The new Tomahawk computer is the latest version that the company unveiled at CES 2020 in January. It is a simple case design with two PCIe slots. The first: for a separate graphics card, and the other for the Intel NUC element card, it contains the processor (processor), random access memory (RAM), internal memory, and all other components including the computer should work.
The Intel NUC element unit contains a 45W Core i9-9980HK Coffee Lake processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, and 2TB capacity.
The RAM and internal storage can be upgraded, but the processor cannot be upgraded unless Intel releases a compatible NUC card that can be directly replaced by a new Tomahawk.
The Tomahawk has enough space to add a separate card to display full size graphics. You can also order a PC with the Nvidia GTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card preinstalled.
The metal box size is 210 mm x 365 mm x 150 mm. In addition to the 750 watt power package, it has a volume of 10 liters and uses active cooling technology.
Razer's new "Tomahawk" includes four USB-A 3.2 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Razer plans to launch the new Tomahawk computer at a price of $ 2,400 for the base model that comes without a discrete graphics card, and at a price of $ 3,200 with a GTX 3080 card. The door to initial ordering for the computer has opened in the United States.
