OnePlus will release its first smartwatch in 2021 |
CEO Pete Lau announced through his official Twitter account that the Chinese company OnePlus plans to manufacture its first smartwatch in 2021.
This is the first time that a Chinese smartphone company has entered the mobile device space.
There is still a lot of information to be found on the upcoming devices, including the smartwatch operating system, price, and even the exact release date.
Lau has only noted that OnePlus will launch a smartwatch in early 2021 and may not be trying too hard to guess the sight of the OnePlus 9, slated for launch in early March.
As we all know, the idea of OnePlus launching a smartwatch is not new as the company developed a smartwatch a few years ago that works with Wear OS (which was then called Android Wear).
OnePlus is working with Google to improve portions of Wear OS. According to Lau, there is definitely room for improvement in Wear OS.
He added, "We are trying to work with Google to improve connectivity between Wear OS, Android TV and Android smartphones and to create this functionality to improve device interoperability across the ecosystem."
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Lowe said, "We finished the design but decided to give it up because we needed to focus."
Additionally, in recent years, OnePlus has begun to expand its products beyond cell phones. In addition to its advanced line of smartphones, the company now also produces a range of headphones, Nord phones, and even smart TVs. .
OnePlus launched its first smartwatch in 2021 after the company released the Oppo Watch smartwatch earlier this year, which resembles the company's first smartwatch.
Since there are no similarities between OPPO and OnePlus products in the past (the two companies belong to the large BBK Electronics group), the next OnePlus watch can receive signals from the current Oppo watch.
