Fortnite works best on older computers |
Epic Games announced a new feature called "Performance Mode" that will help older PCs better play Fortnite.
The new Alpha Performance Mode can run on systems that meet the minimum game requirements.
Players should switch to this mode to get the best results. However, you can ignore it or even turn it on and off anytime in the game.
According to the company, the new mode will significantly improve performance by reducing visual quality, reducing memory usage and reducing the load on the processor and GPU.
This means that the game does not look good, so the device will not overheat and users who play Fortnite on older devices will get instructions about the mode when starting the game.
Epic Games has also added a feature that allows players to remove HD overlays from the game installer, which saves around 14GB of storage space.
Epic Games claims that users running the new mode will see a significantly increased frame rate on older devices compared to previous lower-performance settings.
You can use Performance Mode in Battle Royale and Creative, which means Fortnite can run at 60 frames per second up to 720p on older computers.
The performance model provides improvements for all users who choose to subscribe. However, some hardware requirements can lead to a smoother user experience.
Epic Games continues to recommend some basic specs like 6GB of RAM and SSD to ensure the game remains smooth even in this new performance mode.
Fortnite didn't collect any medals at this year's Awards for Video Game Industry Achievements, Game Awards, but it remains the flagship game on nearly every platform.
Users can now also play games at 120 frames per second on the PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles through the 120 FPS mode feature.
120fps playback limits the resolution of the PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms to 1,440p instead of the usual 4K resolution while reducing some graphics settings.
