Some of Apple's new Macs have problems with Bluetooth connectivity |
Many owners of the MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the new Mac mini with the new Apple M1 chip have Bluetooth connectivity issues, especially with the standalone Mac mini, which is bewildering.
According to Patrick Tommaso, filmmaker and photographer who owns a YouTube channel, the problem ranges from temporary disconnection to peripherals to complete connection failure.
Tommaso posted a tweet on Twitter highlighting his Mac mini connectivity issues with the M1 chip and posted messages on the forum reflecting his concerns. He also posted a video describing the difficulty of communicating using Bluetooth technology.
Tommaso said in a tweet: “I almost got lost while trying to figure out the device's Bluetooth problem. I thought some of us might have this problem, but the forum is now showing that it is everywhere.”
On the popular Reddit site, many owners of Mac computers with M1 chips complain that Apple or other third-party devices (including mouse, keyboards, and headphones) are confused about intermittent connections. The list of affected devices includes Apple's AirPods.
The problem appears to be with the new Apple hardware or macOS Big Sur. Users can use Logitech's Bluetooth Unified Receiver Switch to successfully connect Logitech accessories. Reddit users contacted Apple to have their Mac mini replaced, but the replacement device encountered the same issue.
It should be noted that this isn't the first time Apple has experienced Bluetooth issues. In 2014, users complained about poor performance of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple wireless accessories, as well as third-party wireless accessories. Update to OS X Yosemite.
It is not known how many MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini are affected, and Apple has not officially confirmed the problem.
