Samsung hopes to bring a tri-fold phone and another foldable screen phone to the market |
In the past few years, Samsung has become a leader in the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the Galaxy Z flip rocker now and another phone with a better design and bigger screen, the Galaxy Z Fold. 2.
Now, the South Korean tech giant has released a poster hinting at the future of foldable smartphone design, including one that can be folded multiple times.
The photo published by Samsung shows a foldable phone with a Z-fold mechanism, that is, the screen is divided into thirds. The left third of the screen folded inward to the middle third, and the right third folded backward after the middle third.
I think the new design would be useful, especially because it theoretically means that when compared to current foldable smartphones, increasing the screen size will bring the device closer to a tablet. Additionally, no external screens are required.
However, there are concerns that folded phones more than once may not have the required durability, especially since the first generation of Samsung foldable phones encountered common problems that could make the second hinge a difficult task for Samsung.
It is also believed that the emergence of multi-functional foldable phones increases the number of folds on the screen, but if the fold was not as clear as it was with the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it wouldn't be a big deal.
Samsung has not announced a timeline for the release of this multifunctional phone, but it does indicate that the company may be the first to bring the design to the market.
In another photo, Samsung shows a device with a rotating screen. This visualization of a dropdown screen that can be stored in a small space can be very appealing, but the only obvious limitation appears to be that the thin screen cannot be used without placing it on a hard surface. The attraction factor is that the device can be easily moved anywhere.
In another message related to Samsung, the company is developing a new Galaxy A series smartphone called the Galaxy A32 5G, which may be the company's cheapest 5G smartphone to date.
