New evidence that Samsung Z Fold 3 supports the S Pen |
Last week, we heard reports that Samsung was planning to add Galaxy S support to its Galaxy Z Fold 3. Thanks to the published patent application, there is now more evidence to support this decision.
As LetsGoDigital discovered, Samsung Electronics' patent shows a portable device that folds in half and houses a stylus holder. When the pen is not in use, it can be inserted into the body. From the phone, just like the Samsung Galaxy Note series is the same.
It is clear that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a candidate for this technology, although we will not get to know the actual design of the device in detail here because this is most likely just an initial visualization of the appearance of the device. Next is the Samsung foldable phone.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 was released in August, so we might have to wait a few months before releasing follow-up products. According to previous patents, the hinge design appears to have been redesigned.
The patent also mentions the electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology used by the Note cell phone. And there are rumors that foldable phones will switch to Active Electrostatic Display (AES) - it's more expensive but more flexible.
Just because AES is not mentioned in the patent does not mean that it is not original. It would take several months to be listed on the patent. So far we've heard that Samsung hasn't made a decision on this matter.
It should be noted that these documents do not clarify the actual product, but rather clarify the idea of the product that the company is testing. Samsung might take years to get the technology right or it might not happen at all.
Aside from the speculation regarding the merger of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Note series, it appears that the next foldable phone with an e-pen is definitely something Samsung will be interested in if the hybrid does not work. 2021 is not good, maybe I will see it in 2022.
