MeowTalk .. an application to translate cats' meow |
A former Amazon engineer created an app called MeowTalk that claims to solve the puzzle your cat is trying to tell you by translating the cat's meow.
Javier Sanchez, project manager at technology company Avelon, has developed the app to translate cats' meows into words that humans can understand.
MeowTalk picks up the sound and tries to adjust the direction. The cat owner also helped name the translation and create a database from which AI programs could learn.
The app's vocabulary currently contains only 13 sentences. Research has shown that cats do not share language because each cat has its own meow that differs from the voices of other cats.
The app's translation varies from account to account, and it is not a general database of chat voices.
By recording and categorizing sounds, artificial intelligence and machine learning can better understand each cat's voice. The more you use it, the more accurate the application will be.
According to the developers, the ultimate goal is to create a smart collar so that technology can instantly translate a cat's meow and cast human voices through a smart collar.
The app is available for free on Google and Apple stores. Since it is still in the early stages of development, reviews are mixed.
Many users complained about bugs in the app, while other users said the average app rating on Google Store was 4.3.
Due to the way in which recorded data is stored and used, users have raised app privacy concerns.
The application specified in the privacy policy is under development. Anyone interested in backing up data is advised to uninstall the app so that it fully adheres to EU privacy laws.
Sanchez and his team found that cats have nine different meow sounds.
Cat owners can download the app, record a cat's meow, and get a voice translation. They can then provide feedback on the accuracy of the app's translation.
Feline behavior expert Juliet Jones (Juliet Jones) said: Most cat noises actually communicate with people because most of their owners respond to them.
She added: Since the application relies on translating the name of the owner, there is room for misunderstanding and there may be some errors that can give the owner the wrong impression of the cat's mood.
