JD unveils the smart city operating system |
JD.com from China announced the first phase of Xiongan Smart City OS, an ambitious future city project that has the personal support of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The company said: The platform is expected to collect all city data in one place, making it easy to share and describe it as an integrated data platform.
The Smart City OS is the result of a collaboration between JD Digital (formerly JD Finance) and the Chinese public group Xiong'an.
At the event, Zheng Yu, vice president of JD.com, who is also chief data scientist at JD Digital and director of research at JD Smart City, explained how the system integrates various data.
He said: The system not only collects traditional government data, but also audio, visual and so-called time and space data such as travel and consumption records.
Yu stated that this data will be combined for future data analysis and extraction.
He added: In the era of smart cities, not only do we need voice and face recognition, we also need more specific AI models for smart city applications such as traffic flow prediction and early warning collection.
The system is also designed to notify concerned departments of potential emergencies and prevent a corona epidemic, one of the uses mentioned by Yu.
This technology is being promoted in the carefully planned city of Xiongan (a city with a population of 5 million).
Xiongan is seen as a model of a smart city that frees the crowded Chinese capital from unnecessary jobs.
This city is located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing and is now home to more than 20 million people.
While Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu are building projects in Xiongan, leading tech companies in China are trying to create new neighborhoods at the request of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
These projects include the use of sensors, 5G networks, supercomputing facilities, and big data. Keep building smart cities.
In recent years, JD Digital has used new technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and big data to build smart cities and is currently leading active smart city projects in 20 cities in China.
Several high-tech projects are under development in Xiongan City. At the end of March, the city inaugurated a blockchain technology laboratory with the aim of researching and applying blockchain technology in the construction and development of the region.
It is also testing a new digital identity system and has been identified as one of four sites in the country where the Chinese digital yuan will be tested.
