| Google Assistant adds family-friendly features |
Google wants your family to stay organized. For this reason, Google announced a new update for Google Assistant for Families.
The changes are mostly focused on smart screens like the Nest Hub Max, which bundles many old and new features together in a new section called the "Family Tab".
You can expect the redesigned UI to be available later this year, the company said.
Family Notes is the first newly added feature that allows you to set note style messages for tasks and reminders.
Notes are placed on the home screen of your smart screen so that anyone who uses them can then see them.
The family bell function uses the bell to set the home day reminders. This feature has been slightly updated with new sound effects and ringer suggestions.
Google has announced plans to add the ability to pause all ringtones during the holidays.
The Google Assistant offers two new educational and entertainment options for families with young children.
The updated smart screen can provide educational activities for children from service providers (such as ABCmouse) so that children can use the new voice command, "Hey Google, what can I learn with my family?"
The voice command "Hey Google, tell me a story" can also be used to bring you a new interactive smart screen story that allows you to browse the page, read crafts, and view custom animations.
The assistant has a new voice command for the most recent information on the whereabouts of family members. You can ask your assistant, "Hey Google, where's my family?" Or you can ask some family members.
The assistant can check the last place they know through Google Maps.
A Google family account is required for this function, and participating family members are over the age of 13 and the location information exchange must be activated in Google Maps or partner applications (such as Life360).
In addition to smart speakers and displays that support Google Voice Assistant, this function can also be used on Android and iOS devices.
