Bentley switches to fully electric cars |
Bentley Motors has announced a major expansion of its electrification plan, including the sale of all electric vehicles, from 2030.
Bentley is part of the Volkswagen Group and is lagging behind its sister brand in terms of electrification.
Volkswagen has set itself the goal of selling around 1 million electric cars annually by 2025.
Bentley is now planning to make significant changes over the next 10 years to phase out all internal combustion engines over the next decade.
The luxury car maker has announced its Beyond100 strategy, which includes moving to all-electric cars.
Bentley outlined its plan to become a global leader in sustainable luxury travel, articulating its Beyond100 strategy and committed to delivering sustainable luxury.
Bentley said it has renovated its 80-year-old headquarters, which became the first UK carbon fund to be carbon neutral.
Bentley is completely transforming every aspect of its business into a carbon neutral company by the turn of the second century.
This includes replacing the model range with a view to introducing battery-powered or all-hybrid cars by 2026 and all-electric cars by 2030.
The transition to hybrid vehicles will begin next year and is at the core of the announced strategy:
- Bentley's goal is to be completely carbon-free by 2030.
- Make sure to switch to plug-in hybrids or fully electric vehicles by 2026.
- Converting the entire model range to electric cars by 2030.
- It plans to launch a new hybrid car in 2021.
- Reducing the plant's environmental impact by 75% by 2025.
- Supporting Volkswagen Group ambitions to surpass the two-degree target of the Paris climate agreement.
- The target group is different talents, so 30% of managers should be diversified.
- The "over 100" plan has changed every aspect of business for centuries.
The company has not yet announced the exact date for the release of its first fully electric vehicle, but it is still working on development. Bentley launched the EXP 100 GT last year.
