Amazon is releasing glasses that you can use to talk to Alexa |
Amazon today (Thursday) announced the launch of its glasses that allow users to talk to all consumers through their online store using their Alexa smart assistant.
The new second-generation Echo Frames are $ 249.99 on Amazon and will ship on December 10.
The US e-commerce giant demonstrated Echo Frames at its annual hardware event last year, which are part of the company's product portfolio that dubbed Day One. Since then, Amazon has only made consumer calls for eyeglasses.
Amazon made some improvements to the second generation of Echo frames based on the results of consumers who received the invite system glasses.
Amazon's improvements to glasses include a 40% increase in battery life, an automatic shutdown function to maximize battery life when the glasses are not in use, and a VIP filter function. This means that users can no longer prioritize notifications from certain apps and contacts. Also includes calendar notifications and group chats.
Echo Frames have an Auto Volume feature that can automatically adjust the device's volume based on the noise level around the user. The glasses are also available in three colors: blue, black and brown.
Eyeglass lenses are said to not be corrective lenses, but according to Amazon, customers can purchase corrective lenses at LensCrafters stores.
Amazon said customers who purchased first-generation Echo Frames as part of the invitation system can upgrade to the second generation for just $ 70.
Although Amazon decided to bring Echo Frames to the market for everyone, the company decided to discontinue the Echo Loop, another product on the day a batch of products were announced last year, as Alexa calls out.
