Sony promises that most PS4 games can be played on PS5 |
Sony Corporation announced, Friday, more details about backward compatibility of PlayStation 4 (PlayStation 4) games with the new PlayStation 5 (PlayStation 5) platform.
The Japanese tech giant said the PlayStation 5 platform will support more than 4,000 games on the PlayStation 4 platform. Sony said this number represents the "vast majority".
While most PlayStation 4 games can be played on PlayStation 5, Sony cautioned that "some PlayStation 4 games may display errors or unexpected behavior when played on the PlayStation 5 platform." Additionally, some PlayStation 4 games are available. Some features may not be available on PlayStation 5.
It's not known which games are affected by bugs or functional issues, but Sony has mentioned 10 PlayStation 4 games that won't work on PlayStation 5 at all.
These include: DWVR, “African Warrior 2” Revenge Edition “Koma”, Volume 1, “TT Isle of Man-Riding on the Edge 2”, “Just Cope with It”, “Shadow Remake”, “Robinson: Journey”. We sing "Killer Go: Definitive Edition", Shadwen and Joe's Diner.
Previous versions of PlayStation 4 games on the PlayStation 5 platform also had some compatibility limitations. The sharing menu cannot be displayed in PS4 games running on PlayStation 5. You will need to use the Create button on the DualSense controller to take screenshots. After that, the PlayStation 4 tournament feature is also not compatible with PlayStation 5, and this is the case for the in-game or second-screen apps and apps that come with the game.
Sony said, “Some PlayStation 4 games” are also used with the PlayStation 5's Game Boost feature, which allows older PlayStation 4 games to run at a higher frame rate. Sony has not yet made a list of games that support this feature.
