Google has set moderate sales targets for smartphones

According to Nikkei Asian Review, Google has set a moderate sales target for its smartphones and plans to produce less than 1 million Pixel 5 phones this year.

This indicates that the search giant's flagship is more conservative than last year.

According to the report, the flagship smartphones that support 5G technology could reach 800,000 units in performance.

Moderate sales targets have been set this year, and initial production of various models is expected to reach 3 million cars.

In the past year, Google's total cell phone sales were below the company's target. This year, market demand has been further disrupted by the coronavirus epidemic.

Last year, Google shipped 7.2 million Pixel phones, which is below the company's ambitious target of 8-10 million units, or double the 4.7 million in 2018.

In the first six months of 2020, Google only sold 1.5 million smartphones, down significantly from the 4.1 million smartphones it sold in the first half of last year.

The report said: The Corona virus epidemic has struck again Google's plans this year to delay the production of (Pixel 4A).

Cheaper models (like the Pixel 4A) usually have lower profit margins, but they help drive sales.

The pandemic has also disrupted Google's active diversification plan, which will produce all new phones in Vietnam this year, including the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A.

Pixel 4A phones are in production in Vietnam, while Pixel 5 phones are currently being built in China.

Google has introduced a relatively conservative takeover plan this year. Due to the drop in sales of its flagship mobile phone (Pixel 4) in the past year, production will be adapted to the market interaction with the mobile phone.

Google has not benefited much from the setbacks from the Chinese tech giant Huawei. Huawei has urged Chinese companies to develop smart devices to use its operating system to expand the ecosystem, which could pose a threat to Google's position in the market in the long term.

The challenges facing the Google ecosystem could frustrate the ambitions of the US company's hardware, as Google views the devices as a strategy to reduce the use of its product line by users and collect large amounts of valuable consumption.

In addition to computers (Pixelbook Go), Google also offers smart speakers, wireless headphones, headphones, and other connected devices. However, smartphones play an important role in expanding the ecosystem.

Although its smartphone plans have been destroyed, the company has successfully moved most of its products to Vietnam and Thailand from Nest Smart Speakers, Nest Wifi Speakers, and other home appliances.

The move is part of Google's efforts to reduce the risk of being too dependent on China in the escalating trade war between Washington and Beijing.
