China has a strong demand for iPhone 12 Pro |
The latest report by trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shows that strong demand for the new iPhone 12 Pro in the Chinese market is helping to push sales of Apple's new smartphone models to a higher level than expected.
Guo wrote in a report released Monday that China accounts for an estimated 35% to 45% of global demand for the iPhone 12 Pro.
He added that global consumers had received initial orders of 7 to 9 million iPhone 12s and iPhone 12 Pro in the first weekend of sales.
"The performance of the iPhone 12 Pro's first order exceeded our expectations. This was due to the initial preference for advanced models, strong demand in China and anticipated seasonal demand in the US and European markets." Said Guo.
Guo Mingd attributed the strong demand for new iPhones in China to the growing 5G infrastructure in China and problems with the Chinese smartphone giant Huawei, which is facing a shortage of chipsets due to US sanctions.
According to another report released by market research firm IDC last week, Apple is expected to increase its market share in high-end Chinese smartphones with the introduction of the iPhone 12 series.
In the first half of 2020, Apple phones with 4G support captured 44% of the market, just below Huawei's 44.1% share.
The iPhone 12 launch initially caused mockery from Chinese social networks. This was due to the company's decision not to include headphones and chargers, and the relatively late implementation of support (5G) against domestic brands, but that hasn't stopped hundreds of thousands of people from purchasing phones.
Within 24 hours of placing the first order, sales of these two models had reached 2 million units, which is higher than the 800,000 units of the three iPhone 11 models that were sold in the same period after the first order opened last September. Public.
In the report, Kuo mentioned that he does not expect sales of (iPhone 12 mini) and (iPhone 12 Pro Max) to match the sales of (iPhone 12) and (iPhone 12 Pro), which began on November 6. .
He said: Due to the small screen, the demand for the smaller iPhone 12 mini in China may decline.
