Sony cut its forecast for the PlayStation 5 by 4 million

According to the latest Bloomberg report, Japan's Sony has reduced its estimated PlayStation 5 production by 4 million units in the fiscal year, and is now expected to produce around 11 million units annually by the end of March.

Bloomberg previously reported that Sony plans to increase production to around 10 million units by the end of December. Now, however, the company is facing manufacturing problems.

The PlayStation 5 system on a chip (SOC) is said to be the primary processing component developed by AMD, which is a particular issue with a single point response rate of only 50%.

According to the new report, this means that half of the parts produced cannot be shipped, and while this number continues to rise, revenue has not yet reached stable levels.

The revised figure is still much higher than previously announced: the Japanese company Sony originally planned to use the PlayStation 5 production platform.

According to reports, Sony plans to produce 5 to 6 million game units by the end of March this year in April. This is less than production when the PlayStation 4 platform launched in 2013.

With the gaming industry's popularity, the coronavirus pandemic caused the Japanese company to dramatically increase its forecasts.

The electronics giant increased orders from its suppliers in July in hopes of increasing demand for toys during the holiday season and beyond as people spend more time at home due to the coronavirus. .

Sony will host a PlayStation 5 online event on Wednesday. At this stage, the final price and release date of the platform may be displayed. There are two different versions: one with a reader and the other without a reader.

The price for the full platform can be as low as $ 449, while the price for the smaller digital version can drop as low as $ 400.

Before confirming this pricing information, it is difficult to assume that Sony has sufficient hardware to meet the demand.

It's worth noting that rival Microsoft announced pricing for its next-generation gaming platform last week. Thus, Xbox Series S sells for $ 299, while Xbox Series X costs $ 499, putting pressure on Sony.
