Royole today officially launched its second foldable FlexPai 2 mobile phone in China with a starting price of 988 yuan (about $ 1,471).
It is the first Chinese company to launch the Royole Flexpai, a commercially available foldable screen phone older than Samsung and Huawei.
In March, the company promised to improve this idea with a new FlexPai 2. Although the company only shares computer generated images and not actual photos, you can watch a demo over the phone for approximately 38 minutes.
FlexPai 2 is very similar to the company's old mobile phone (FlexPai), but with upgraded ports and displays, and includes a third-generation flexible display (Cicada Wing).
The thickness of the phone screen is 6.3 mm when opening and 12.8 mm when folding. This isn't as thin as the Surface Duo (Dual Display) screen. But it looks better than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 screen, which measures 6.9mm when opened and 16.8mm when folded. Even thinner.
Royole claims that the new Super Seamless & Stepless hinge sealant developed for them has no gaps, is corrosion resistant, mechanically durable, and has no gaps. Dust does not enter the device and affect the durability of the phone.
The 7.8-inch screen could be a weak point because Royale didn't say anything about glass. Therefore, it should be made of plastic with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels, which is smaller than its competitors Samsung and Microsoft. .
The other specifications look competitive because it is a main processor (Snapdragon 865) with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB or 512 GB storage capacity, 4450 mAh battery capacity, and 5G network support.
There is a rear camera with a 64MP main lens, a 16MP wide-angle lens, an 8MP zoom lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 32MP selfie camera.
It also has stereo speakers, two SIM card slots, supports the latest WLAN (Wi-Fi 6) standards, and a USB-C port for fast charging. The company said: You can open and close the screen 1.8 million times.
Royole promises that its user interface (waterOS 2.0) will intelligently divide the screen into multiple applications and allow users to drag and drop between these applications.

FlexPai 2 has 12 GB of storage and 512 GB of internal storage, and it costs 11,588 CNY (about 1,707 USD).
