Dell announced the XPS 13 with Tiger Lake processor |
Dell announced a new update to the XPS 13 in the Standard and 2-in-1 grades as the device is powered by 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processors.
The 11th generation Intel processor (Tiger Lake) is expected to provide faster speeds for everything from word processing to streaming internet games.
The device will be available in the United States and Canada on September 30 and will be available in other countries in the coming weeks.
The standard (XPS 13) starts at $ 999, while the price of the device in this category (2 in 1) starts at $ 1,249.
When Intel launched the Tiger Lake processor earlier this month, it first introduced the new XPS.
In addition to the new processor, the device has also received a memory update as it is now running at 4267MHz (instead of 3733MHz) (LPDDR4x).
Like many other innovative devices including (Tiger Lake), this computer also supports (Thunderbolt 4) and (Xe) integrated graphics integration from Intel.
The device is a two-in-one device, and its re-design is similar to what traditional devices received in early 2020.
What you'll notice the most is the new screen-to-body ratio. Dell claims that the convertible display is 7% larger than previous generations and that the top and bottom edges are getting smaller.
The device also has a new color (two in one) that was previously available in Platinum Silver and Super White.
Dell describes the new color options as Platinum and Silver, with a black or snow white carbon fiber palm rest and polar white fiber palm rest.
Dell also announced a "developer edition" of the Linux XPS 13 Developer Edition, the first laptop to originally ship Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
Dell also offers Ubuntu 20.04 LTS for free to anyone who has an XPS 13 and wants to switch operating systems, regardless of whether they have an "upgraded version" or not.
The XPS 13 has an edge-to-edge keyboard with a larger keyboard and touchpad. The company extended battery life, he said: Computers should exceed 18 hours.
Dell said that by 2020, all XPS computer products will be stored in sustainable containers, including recycled plastic that have been attached to the ocean.
