Acer announces the first computer with a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G processor |
Acer announced today (Thursday) the presentation of the latest version of its laptop series (Spin 7) Spin 7 as part of its participation in IFA 2020 in the German capital Berlin.
This new computer is the first laptop to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G processor instead of the usual Intel processor. It also has the distinction of being the first Acer laptop to support the 5G network.
On the surface, the new Spin 7 appears to be a slightly updated version of the current model, with slightly square corners and gold trim. However, the most significant change is the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G processor, which is based on ARM architecture and provides up to a few days of battery life.
Additionally, Acer added the Wacom Active Stylus, which offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and can be connected to a PC side for charging.
The Spin 7 has a 14-inch IPS touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, an anti-bacterial gorilla glass and a 360-degree hinge, two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports. The company has not disclosed the device's price or launch time.
Today, Qualcomm announced that it has partnered with Taiwanese company Acer to sell 5G computers. The computer runs on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G platform. Battery life is several days and provides enterprise-grade security. Sexual and advanced camera. And an advanced sound.
