Google is close to launching a new Android TV product |
Two new Google devices appeared in the FCC file. As the report notes, it appears to be linked to a new Android TV product that has been in development for a while.
If this is true, new documents show that Google is finally ready to release the product soon.
Before wireless devices can be sold in the United States, they must be specifically approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
A report published in June states: Google is developing a product codenamed (Sabrina) to replace Chromecast Ultra.
Sabrina uses an Android TV platform and a traditional remote user interface that differs from the Chromecast that is controlled by a smartphone.
FCC file is for Bluetooth and Wireless Network Interactive Media Streaming Device (GZRNL).
Although another document relates to a wireless device with Bluetooth technology, these documents are expected to apply to the device (Sabrina) and the remote control (G9N9N).
Unless you buy a TV with built-in software, devices (Android TV) don't have many options at the moment.
There is a high-end kit (Nvidia Shield) that starts at $ 149.99, while the Xiaomi Mi Box S, launched by Google two years ago, costs $ 59.99.
Xiaomi has also released the $ 40 Mi TV Stick in India and Europe, which is currently the only way to get this variant of Android TV.
Google can change the way we use Chromecast devices as the search giant is now bringing the Android TV platform (Android OS for digital media players) into more living rooms.
It did after trying to roll out Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra as affordable media streaming devices.
Chromecast has been one of the most successful media streaming devices since its launch in 2013. It is an affordable way for users to stream content directly to TV without purchasing a smart TV.
Google said: More than 160 TV providers are using Android TV in one way or another.
