Fitbit announces a competitive Apple Watch which is priced at $ 329 |
Fitbit today (Tuesday) showed off a fitness tracker and two smart watches, including a watch to monitor users' stress levels.
At $ 329, the Fitbit Sense replaces the Ionic as the most expensive smartwatch among US companies founded 13 years ago, with the exception of limited-edition models. It's also the company's first watch to measure galvanic activity, or skin-to-skin conductivity.
The new stress results will help users decide whether to start a new project, or whether to take a rest, go to bed early, or meditate, said Sami Abdel Ghaffar, a researcher at Fitbit.
The company also announced that the price of the Versa 3 (Versa 3) smartwatch is $ 229. Compared to the previous generation, the Versa 3 has been updated and the upgrade includes GPS sensor and phone connectivity functions. In addition, an electronic bracelet (Inspire 2) Inspire 2 has been announced, the price of its new design does not exceed 100
Fitbit said: These devices will be shipped to users in late September and initial orders will start today.
Since Fitbit went public 5 years ago, it has shifted its market share from wearables to Apple and other companies. The company announced last week that its new paid subscription service to increase revenue now has 500,000 subscribers.
According to market research firm IDC, Fitbit's share of the global wearable device market was 5% last year, just under 32% of Apple.
To jointly challenge Apple, Google agreed to acquire Fitbit for $ 2.1 billion last November. However, competition authorities in the United Kingdom, the United States, and several other countries are looking at whether the acquisition will unfairly deepen Google's data about user habits. Fitbit said the review may delay the deal to 2021.
The two companies are currently entering a software partnership, whereby Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 users will have access to Google Assistant digital assistants by the end of this year, similar to the current Google Assistant integration. Fitbit with Amazon Alexa.
