Twitter announces the number of accounts targeted in the latest hack |
Twitter announced Thursday night that hackers have targeted about 130 accounts during this week's cyber attack, and that many personal files have been hacked by celebrities and organizations.
The hackers entered the internal Twitter system to hijack the accounts of some of the main people on the platform, including: American presidential candidate (Joe Biden), reality TV actress (Kim Kardashian), former US President (Barack Obama), and billionaire (Elon Musk) who uses The account to request a digital currency.
Twitter said in its latest statement: hackers can control a "small portion" of the target account and send tweets about them. The company added that it continued to verify whether the attacker could access the private information of the target account.
Hijacked accounts also include rapper (Kanye West), Amazon founder (Jeff Bezos), investor (Warren Buffett), Microsoft co-founder (Bill Gates), and corporate accounts from Uber and Apple. Twitter repeated that it works with affected account holders.
The FBI administration in San Francisco is investigating the breach, with several lawmakers in Washington asking for an explanation of how the breach occurred. And the police: Online attackers deceived the incident to obtain a digital currency. Publicly available blockchain records show that scammers received more than $ 100,000 in cryptocurrency.
