Microsoft releases the final version of the Home Security app |
Microsoft began testing a new app called Family Safety in May last year to manage child screen time and application use.
The American software giant announced today the launch of the final version of the application for Android and iOS mobile devices.
To ensure digital security, the app can not only share the location, but parents can also get reports about screen time and application usage and set time limits. The Family Safety app also features the feature of synchronizing information with Windows and Xbox devices. If the screen time is limited to one hour, the hour is counted on all devices. Certain apps can also be blocked.
In the final new release of the app, Microsoft also added web and search filters to restrict browsing on child-friendly websites. The filter works via Edge browser on Microsoft Windows, Xbox and Android.
Family Security app can also be used to share location between family members. The company added new features to the group's website during the trial period so users know when many family members are on the same site. The company also plans to add notifications when family members enter or leave the site. However, this is a special feature for Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365) subscribers.
Google Android users can download the app (Family Safety) from the Google Play Store, provided that iOS users can use the app via the App Store next year.
