| Microsoft: New privacy controls for European Union customers |
Microsoft announced new data protection controls for European Union customers when the company introduced a new option for enterprise customers to control Windows 10 diagnostic data (also known as Telemetry) as a general preview.
The program is of particular importance to customers in the European Union and the European Economic Area who must comply with data protection regulations and strict data protection of the European Union GDP.
Microsoft customers in these regions currently have two options for processing diagnostic data collected via Windows 10 and sent to Microsoft servers.
You can allow Microsoft to control data so that personal data can be transferred across international borders, or you can refuse to collect diagnostic data entirely.
The second option is not practical for most companies because Windows Update is no longer able to provide security updates and drivers specifically designed for devices in these organizations.
With the new option for the data-processing service, enterprise customers running subscription editions (Windows 10 Enterprise) can set their organization as controllers for this diagnostic data.
If this option is valid, the organization acts as a data controller and Microsoft processes the data because the diagnostic data is processed on behalf of the organization.
Once the organization activates this option, the diagnostic data from the organization's internal devices is forwarded to a separate data store.
Customers can then use the Microsoft Azure portal to comply with public regulations to protect data from attacks by people within the company, including deleting data and downloading copies of data to verify identity or restrict the processing of requests.
This new option allows customers to take advantage of Microsoft's online changes to the November 2019 Terms of Service.
With this update, Microsoft has reported that it acts as a data controller when providing cloud services for (Azure), (Office 365), (Dynamics), and (Intune).
Microsoft processes data to provide services, improve errors and other service related problems, keep services secure, and constantly update services.
According to the software giant, this new directive has been around for several months, and after the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled out the possibility of data exchange between the European Union and the United States via an agreement. Privacy protection.
With the new changes, organizations in the European Union can control Windows 10 data and reduce Microsoft's ability to respond to data access requests from U.S. agencies.
The new option improves privacy practices in Windows 10. Microsoft expects that the preview program will last approximately six months before it is widely used.
