Report: Huawei outperforms Samsung to become number one in the phone market |
According to a new Counterpoint report, Chinese company Huawei has overtaken its South Korean rival Samsung for the first time and is number one on the smartphone market.
According to the report, Huawei's feature on Samsung lasted less than a month as it only appeared in April last year. The company attributed this feature to the decrease in Samsung deliveries due to the temporary closure during an outbreak of the Corona virus (Covid-19).
Samsung has suffered in markets such as India, the United States, Latin America and Europe, as stores closed and smartphone demand reduced their market share to just 17%.
Meanwhile, Huawei saw an increase in demand for mobile phones in the Chinese market as people accepted cell phones for the company to offset losses caused by U.S. sanctions imposed since May 2019. In April 2020, Huawei's market share increased to 19%, outperforming the broader Samsung market .
It should be noted that the massive growth of Huawei has exceeded many smartphone manufacturers in recent years, while the American giant Apple has already rivaled Samsung in second place in many ways, and Samsung remains in first place.
After Huawei removed Apple from second place, Huawei said earlier last year that it plans to remove Samsung from first place to become the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer by the end of 2019 or 2019 by 2020. However, since it banned sanctions The American company Samsung, from doing this using materials from the American company, made the American sanctions impossible to implement its services, and Google is the most prominent of these companies.
Since users all over the world, with the exception of China, rely on Google services and applications on their mobile devices, U.S. sanctions have caused many users to avoid buying Huawei phones.
