France launched a smart voice assistant to help corona patients |
French researchers today introduced a voice assistant that can help callers with symptoms of the emerging coronary virus (COVID-19) direct them to emergency rooms or direct them to doctors using artificial intelligence.
The team said: Everyone in France can now contact the AlloCovid service developed by the French Institute Inserm, the University of Paris and SNCF. On the line, the caller said hello, "Hey, I'm your default assistant at AlloCovid ... Are you ready to start the investigation?"
Then the caller is asked to enter the zip code instead of his name. Transfer it to the appropriate experts based on the symptoms and conditions previously discovered.
The developers hope that the voice assistants (the French prefer traditional phones over mobile applications or fill out forms) will facilitate the use of the elderly and help the authorities find new infected groups after the closure of France on May 11.
The system can handle 1000 calls at the same time. Caller information is anonymously sent to the health service and is deleted 7 days after storage.
"As far as we know, this is the first time that artificial intelligence has been used in public health," Professor Xavier Juvene told the newspaper.
The standard AlloCovid support number is separate from the StopCovid app and used to track mobile communications between people the government wants to start.
