| European governments support the introduction of smart technologies to combat crown spread |
A European technology leader said on Friday: The European technology platform that supports smartphone applications can receive government assistance that can help track people at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19).
German businessman (Chris Boss) told Reuters that seven countries could formally support the European initiative "PEPP-PT (Tracking Privacy Protection Across Europe)" or authorize one of its members to develop a national application.
European experts said in early April that they would soon introduce smart phone technology that could help people exposed to the virus (Covid-19) detect, which would help health authorities to take rapid-spread measures.
The plan includes collecting data from smartphones to find people who are in close contact with people who are infected with the virus so that they can contact people at risk.
It is believed that closely following people at risk of infection can help prevent the "closure" of society as a whole, with serious economic consequences.
The European initiative is trying to use the successful experience with smartphones in some Asian countries to track the spread of viruses and quarantine orders, although these methods may violate strict EU data protection regulations. The PEPP-PT plan aims to launch a technology licensing platform that will serve as the basis for contact tracking applications.
Boss is a co-founder of PEPP-PT and founder of Arago. He said: "Many large countries have invested their application teams in what we offer them." He mentioned these countries: Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Malta, Spain and Switzerland, adding that 40 other countries have registered and joined.
More than 200 scientists and technicians worked together at PEPP-PT. The purpose of PEPP-PT is to become the backbone of nationwide applications that comply with the most stringent confidentiality rules in Europe and can “talk” to each other across borders. Technicians strive to develop digital methods to combat diseases that have infected more than 2 million people, including 150,000 people who have died worldwide.
