Google’s advanced saving program prohibits the use of external Android applications |
Google has announced a number of security features related to Android, as it seeks to address all of the major weaknesses in its operating system that are used by billions of smartphone users around the world, and the search giant is searching for more specific solutions. A way to protect the most vulnerable Google Accounts from malicious applications owned by activists, executives, journalists, and politicians.
The company announced a safety-oriented program called Advanced Protection in 2017 to protect its accounts, which may be more vulnerable to phishing scams. The program was fully launched last year and Google relies on three major security measures. Program creation components:
- Provide phishing protection by requiring a physical security key to access a Google Account with two-factor authentication.
- Reducing the ability of external applications to access Google applications.
- Request additional verification steps to reduce access to impersonation account.
Since its introduction, the extended security software has been expanded to include the original Apple iOS app and Chrome browser. It is assumed that Google Accounts are now registered with the security software. Advanced has two additional malware protection functions.
Google Play protection:
One of these two functions is related to a security service supported by Google Play Protection, which verifies harmful behavior of applications installed through the Google Play Store. Google launched this service in 2017. By default, the service is available under Used on all Android devices, including Google Mobile Services (GMS).
Although the service (Google Play Protect) is available by default on most Android devices, you can manually disable the service by defining it if certain users want to change apps they can install without Google intervention. You can do this with multiple controls.
Those who have already requested advanced protection should now use Google Play Protection Service. If the function is currently deactivated, it will be deactivated automatically and cannot be deactivated after that.
Roman Kirillov, Android Security Manager and Data Protection Technology, said: "The service will now run automatically on all devices used for Google Accounts registered in the expanded protection software, and the service must be activated to continue the program.
Restrictions:
The second feature relates to restrictions because Google restricts apps that can be installed from outside its store, and while Google can control apps that can be added to its app store, it does it differently. The possibilities, for example, installed applications do not have much external control.
The company now tends to prevent users who have registered a Google account with an extended protection program from installing the app other than the store. However, there are exceptions to this rule, as some Android phones are sold at the time of sale under their license agreements. Other app memories are preinstalled and these devices are not affected.
In addition, apps installed via (Android Debug Bridge) are allowed, while remaining apps are kept on the device and receive updates. These changes should be visible to all participants of the extended protection program from today.
Note that G Suite users registered with advanced protection are not currently taking advantage of these new features. However, companies can activate similar functions in other ways.
