Facebook decided to stop MSQRD augmented reality application

Facebook announced Friday that it will close the MSQRD app in April to add augmented reality effects to the face.

The social media giant announced in a message on its social network via the official page of the application that the MSQRD application will be removed from the App Store and (Google Play) as of April 13, 2020.

Facebook bought the MSQRD app in 2016. Since then, the augmented reality app has played an important role in improving Facebook's ability to develop AR video tools and images. One of these tools is the Spark AR app, which allows users to create custom face filters that can be used in Facebook and Instagram applications.

According to Business Insider, Facebook promised to keep MSQRD as a standalone app shortly after it was acquired and continued to release updates. However, the company stopped supporting the app in late 2016.
